Safe Travels Carrie Fisher

I had this idea rolling around in my head but I didn't have time to do it and then it seemed weird when her mom followed her so shortly, but this just seemed like the way she would have met her mortality, with that awesome optimism of hers and severe lack of fucks to give.  Safe travels Princess.

Pen Pal Japan!

So, at the studio I work for, Powerhouse Animation, we have a group of japanese students that send us letters to practice english.  In them, they draw a character and then describe them.  In return we send them back artwork we have done for them on a postcard and a short letter so they can practice reading english.  In any case, this is the art I did for a young man named Taiki.

Pick'em-up Truck

It has been a while, but with some work projects out of the way I was able to scrape up some time for a project for a buddy of mine who works on cars.

Doodling on the iPad

So, I finally started doodling on my iPad that my wife gave me.  I used Adobe Ideas and the bamboo iPad stylus.  Its a pretty slick little program and for a first time sketch trying to work out the kinks, I think it worked pretty well.  The artwork is inspired by something else I will be doing soon, so stay tuned for a far less crappy version of a creepy jack in the box.

Disney Trip 2014

On a much needed vacation with my best friend and fellow animator Mike to the most magical place on earth, Cleveland DisneyLand!  And here is my rendition of the two of us as Disney's coolest duo in front of the best ride in the world(I didn't draw the bg just so's ya knows).

American Dreams

I did a pic of this truck a while back for a buddy and then decided to throw font all over it from its technical specs to random adjectives about the truck.  Very fun, but a pain in the butt to do.  I don't normally work a lot with font, because I don't see the romance in it, but I respect lettering etc as an art because it takes a lot of thought and planning that most people simply don't realize.  And compared to them, I feel like I would have done just as well with a crayon.  Enjoy!

Wedding Commission

Here's my latest commission.  A young man wanted to propose to his girlfriend by having a caricature done of them(by a fake artist on site), and then when she went to check the piece, it would be him on a knee proposing to her, at which point, she would turn around and he would be on a knee proposing to her.  Well, the day came, they loved the art and she said 'yes'!!  Congrats to the lovely couple!

Martial Arts as defined by the Manly Dictionary

I keep seeing all these rule changes that are slowly neutering martial arts.  It started back in the day with full contact sparring turning into point sparring, then it spread to judo with multitudes of inane rules and now it has finally infected the IBJJF.  So, here is my take on the situation and today's warm-up.  Get fucked soccer mommies, I blame you not wanting your kids to get boo boos for this overly protected, overly ruled bullshit in MARTIAL ARTS.

First Sketchy-Sketchiness of 2014

So, here is some sketchiness done late late late late late at night in-between projects.  This is my main goal for 2014, to start putting pencil to paper again.  Enjoy!

Last art of 2013

One thing I am not overly pleased about with 2013 was just how little art I actually did on paper.  But with the demise of Spill.com, I am going to be going back to my roots and trying to get some comics going, which means I have to start working with my pencils again.  So, for now, here is a paltry offering of some of what I did but didn't post over 2013(and one that slipped in from 2012).  The caricatures are of Katy cock-eyed Perry, Paisley and Shelton.

Spill.com T-Shirt Limited Time Only!

So, shit is happening at work and its a good thing.  And this is the start of my rejuvenation.  I was starting to lose the passion and I think we are heading in the right direction now.  I will get to be less cryptic in the next month or so.  For now, here is a T-Shirt I did the artwork for.  Get it while you can!

The fantastic text was supplied by my amazing coworker and fellow artist Peter.

Waspinator

I love Waspinator.  I don't know why.  I honestly shouldn't.  He is a whiny, cowardly moron but at the end of the day, he was my favorite character from the Beast Wars Cartoon and because my buddy Braden mentioned Beast Wars, now I am drawing him instead of working on my 8 million other unfinished projects.  CURSE YOU ARTISTIC ADHD!  CURSE YOU!!!!
